MERCATO DEL LAVORO E CRESCITA ECONOMICA
The 2005 edition addressed the issue of 'employment, labour market, and economic growth'. This theme is highly topical in Canton Ticino and the rest of Switzerland at the moment, mostly because of the recent developments of the Treaty on the free movement of persons between Switzerland the EI member states. Having debated on 'technology and innovation' in the previous year's conference, in 2005 the organisers decided to go deeper into the role of employment (in quantitative as well as qualitative terms) as a factor in the mechanisms of economic growth. Here again, the theme was tackled and analysed based on the Canton's economy, in an interregional comparative perspective.
