Support for the development of a new homepage for Ticino Turismo
This project was conducted by the Istituto di Richerche Economiche and Webatelier, Università della Svizzera italiana, in colaboration with Prof. Loredana Padurean.
The final report contains strategic points of improvement for Ticino Turismo from two persepectives: economic and communication content. The first part of the report is dedicated to the economy. The analisis defines the process of information acquistion by the tourist and clarifies the web context and its dynamics. It is not the destination homepage`s principal objective to be an online market place or online shop and shall rather be understood as a toolbox to create different tourist experiences. The report suggests a concept of packages and kitts in order to illustrate how the destination can respond to the tourist`s needs and how tourist can construct their vacation in a flexible way. The second part is dedicated towards the communication strategy with reflections about social media and promotion suggestions through back-links.
From a communictaion point of view the new homepage will have the task to inspire, create emotions, story telling, and creating a lively and dynamic immages of the activities and places to visit. The report includes a cross sectional analisis of touristic homepages which can be taken as reference for a benchmark within the tourism sector.
